Relaxing in Perth, Australia
Because of the popularity of Sydney and Melbourne to international tourists, the Australian city of Perth can get overlooked. However, if you do give this city a chance, it has all the potential to surprise you immensely. As the capital city of Western Australia, Perth is a small and fairly isolated city. It exudes a quiet and laidback vibe, and is one of the cities in Australia that receives most sunshine in a year. All of these make Perth an enjoyable and relaxing travel spot despite being a city.

Perth’s central business district is situated near the Swan River, but most of its residents choose to live in the suburbs situated along the coast. In spite of its small population, the city is culturally diverse because it is a popular migration spot for neighboring countries in the Southeast Asian region. The diversity of culture gives Perth the advantage of offering various cuisines in its restaurants and cafes. Perth is a major hub for flights to and from overseas. Its international airport is just a 20-minute drive from the central business district.
To explore what the city offers, hop on a free bus that goes around the prominent sites including museums and art galleries. One of the most common stops is the Perth Mint, which houses one of the best collections of gold bars in the world. Another must-see is the Swan Bells, which are some of the biggest instruments producing music on earth.

Another top site to see in Perth is the Kings Park and Botanic Garden, which is one of the world’s largest inner city parks. Encompassing an area of more than 400 hectares, Kings Park surpasses the size of the Central Park in New York. While here, you can walk around the sculpted gardens and bushland, or go for the treetop walk and cultural tour. If you come here during spring, you will be treated to the sight of colorful wildflowers in full bloom.
Other notable parks within the city area are Bold Park and Lake Monga. A day trip to Perth’s outskirts leads you to other gorgeous parks and attractions like the Swan Valley, home to the top wineries and micro-breweries in Australia.
